ETS is also associated with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), acute middle ear infections, tonsillectomy, childhood leukemia, slower growth rates, upper respiratory tract infections, and unfavorable cholesterol levels, and initiation of atherosclerosis (heart disease) in the very young.
